The Michigan State Police, Hazardous Materials Training Unit has established a scholarship program to support the training and professional development of local hazmat responders by providing free attendance at the Michigan Hazmat Responder Conference (MIHRC). Scholarships are available only to Michigan public‑sector hazmat team members and are prioritized for individuals who have not previously attended MIHRC, as well as those who face financial constraints within their department that would otherwise prevent participation. Our goal is to reduce barriers and support equitable access to training, professional development, and collaboration across Michigan’s hazmat teams.
Applicants are encouraged to describe how attending MIHRC will benefit their professional growth, their team, and their community. Limited scholarships are available, and selections are based on demonstrated need, prior attendance history, and the potential impact of conference participation.
This scholarship covers only the cost of conference registration. Attendees are responsible for their own lodging, travel, and any additional meals not provided during the event.
The applications must be submitted via the online survey. The application will request basic contact information as well as questions regarding your previous MIHRC attendance, financial barriers to participation, and how attending the conference will benefit you and your hazmat team.
All applications will be reviewed by the MIHRC Committee and prioritized for individuals who have not previously attended MIHRC or who face financial constraints within their department.
All submissions must be received by December 31, 2026. Selected recipients will be notified by January 15, 2027, along with instructions for completing conference registration.
