The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s (EGLE) Water Well Viewer (WWV), is an interactive mapping system that displays water wells along with other information, such as wellhead protection areas, underground storage tanks, and sites of environmental contamination. Water well locations have been identified by address matching, the use of global positioning systems (GPS), and by legal descriptions.
This system allows water well drilling and pump installation contractors to submit water well records.

The White Pine North Mining Permit Application was received by EGLE on September 15, 2026. The permit application proposes an underground mining operation and adjacent processing facility the would produce copper and silver concentrate from chalcocite ore, similar to the historic mining and processing that occurred on the site from 1955 to 1995.
In 2021, White Pine Copper LLC acquired the White Pine Project with the intent to advance the White Pine North Project, which is an extension of the former mine with an expected 26-year mine life. Kinterra Copper USA LLC acquired 100% interest in the project in 2026 and secured financing to advance the project to permitting.
