The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) Laboratory Services is committed to the health and safety of everyone in Michigan. The EGLE Laboratory is currently fully operational. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the laboratory has made changes to drinking water and environmental sample container pickup and sample delivery procedures.
All in person sample container pickups and sample deliveries must be scheduled with the laboratory.
Please contact the laboratory at 517-335-8184 with questions regarding drinking water and environmental testing, sample test kit requests, and sample delivery procedures.
State of Michigan staff, contractors and other governmental sampling personnel should contact the laboratory at 517-335-9800 with questions regarding environmental sample testing and sample containers.
Current Laboratory Operational Status: Fully Operational
Laboratory services are provided for a variety of environmental programs throughout the state, including drinking water, bathing beaches, public swimming pools, air quality, hazardous waste management, geological survey, law, and many others. These services include physical, chemical, and microbiological testing. The laboratory has broad scientific capabilities for responding to new potential environmental concerns.
