The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s (EGLE) Water Well Viewer (WWV), is an interactive mapping system that displays water wells along with other information, such as wellhead protection areas, underground storage tanks, and sites of environmental contamination. Water well locations have been identified by address matching, the use of global positioning systems (GPS), and by legal descriptions.
This system allows water well drilling and pump installation contractors to submit water well records.
EGLE's interactive calendar is designed to provide timely information on decisions before the Director, proposed settlements of contested cases, administrative rules promulgation, public hearings, meetings and comment deadlines, and environmental conferences, workshops and training programs.

The Water Resources Division proposes to issue a Water Quality Certification to the Saxon Falls Hydroelectric Project and Superior Falls Hydroelectric Project located on the Montreal River, upstream and south of the river mouth at Lake Superior in Gogebic County pursuant to Section 401 of the federal Clean Water Act.
This Certification contains operating, monitoring, and reporting requirements necessary to meet Michigan’s Water Quality Standards and is a prerequisite to obtaining a license from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Under Section 401 of the federal Clean Water Act, EGLE reviews federal permit and license applications for projects that may result in a discharge to Michigan’s waters of the United States. The purpose of the review is to determine whether EGLE can certify that the project will comply with Michigan’s water quality requirements.
The federal agency cannot issue the permit or license unless EGLE either grants or waives water quality certification. EGLE may require special certification conditions that the federal agency must incorporate into the permit or license. The federal agency cannot issue the permit or license if EGLE denies water quality certification for the project.
