The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s (EGLE) Water Well Viewer (WWV), is an interactive mapping system that displays water wells along with other information, such as wellhead protection areas, underground storage tanks, and sites of environmental contamination. Water well locations have been identified by address matching, the use of global positioning systems (GPS), and by legal descriptions.
This system allows water well drilling and pump installation contractors to submit water well records.

The Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has received a Federal Consistency Determination under Section 307 of the Federal Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Detroit District, regarding proposed dredging, offloading, and staging of dredged material from Harbor Beach Harbor in the City of Harbor Beach, Huron County.
Maintenance dredging of the harbor is expected to generate approximately 65,000 to 130,000 cubic yards of material every five to 10 years. USACE proposes to offload the material from barges used in the dredging operation for staging at the former DTE power plant site adjacent to the harbor. To prepare for the offloading operation, a minimum eight-inch-deep layer of gravel will be laid over filter fabric to create a haul road. The dredged material will be transferred to trucks for transport to upland placement sites owned by the City of Harbor Beach inland of the coastal zone boundary.
EGLE is reviewing the proposed activity for consistency with Michigan’s Coastal Management Program pursuant to Section 307 of the CZMA.

The purpose of the review is to determine whether the proposed activity complies with a range of Michigan’s resource protection statutes and rules.
