The Drinking Water Analysis Laboratory offers services for the analysis of drinking water quality. These services include all physical, chemical, and microbiological testing procedures currently used for this purpose by state and local water supply programs.

Holiday Schedule for 2025

The Drinking Water Laboratory will be closed for the following 2025 State of Michigan holidays.

Thursday, November 27, 2025 – Thanksgiving Holiday

Friday, November 28, 2025 – Thanksgiving Holiday

Wednesday, December 24, 2025 – Christmas Eve Holiday

Thursday, December 25, 2025 – Christmas Day Holiday

Wednesday, December 31, 2025 – New Year’s Eve Holiday

Thursday, January 1, 2026 – New Year’s Day Holiday

During these holidays, surface water samples will only be accepted for bacteriological testing Monday November 24, 2025, and Tuesday, November 25, 2025.  Surface water samples will not be accepted during the weeks of December 22, 2025, through December 26, 2025, and December 29, 2025, through January 2, 2026.

Mail delays may occur during these holiday periods.  Sampling and overnight shipping for all testing should be scheduled to ensure samples are received the next day by the laboratory and accepted for testing.  Contact your shipper of choice before collecting your samples to ensure they can guarantee delivery within the appropriate timeframe.

Samples collected for compliance purposes should be received by the laboratory no later than Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

 Laboratory Updates

Effective next year on October 1, 2026, the following change will apply to Drinking Water Laboratory operations:

Drinking Water Testing Fees will be increasing.

New fees will reflect an increase over the laboratory's last adjustment of testing fees in 2007.  This adjustment is based on changes in the Detroit Consumer Price Index and will help offset the continuing rise in laboratory operational expenses.
