The Diabetes Education class is designed to provide an overview of the diabetes disease process, self-management of diabetes, and self-management of medications prescribed for it.

  • Recognizing and dealing with blood glucose levels when they are too high or critical
  • Recognizing and dealing with blood glucose levels whey they are too low or critical
  • Factors that affect blood glucose levels
  • Importance of monitoring blood pressure, A1c, and cholesterol
  • Type of care to expect from Medical Provider
  • Proper diabetic foot care
  • Proper diabetic dental care
  • Identifying medications and ability to take them independently
  • Review of proper utilization of pill organizer and accuracy
  • Contacting primary care provider and pharmacy when needed
