Michigan College Credit for Apprenticeships Program
The Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity’s Michigan College Credit for Apprenticeships Program awards college credit for rigorous on-the-job learning that occurs in Michigan’s Skilled Building Trade registered apprenticeship programs. Michigan Trades workers who have completed registered apprenticeships through a participating Building Union Trade can use this program to transfer credits to a participating community college.
Through this program, Trades workers can pursue degrees or certifications to maximize their earnings, adaptability, and career options without having to start from scratch. In many cases, eligible Union Trade workers will only need to take a semester of community college courses to obtain an associate’s degree.
The Michigan College Credit for Apprenticeships Program was launched in partnership with the state’s Skilled Building Trades Unions, the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential, the Michigan Community College Association, and the Michigan Workforce Development Board.
