The Michigan Department of Education supports establishing International Baccalaureate Programmes (IB) at all levels offered.
The programs offered are:
- Primary Years Programme (PYP)
- Middle Years Programme (MYP)
- Diploma Programme (DP)
To remove the financial barrier to taking the Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, the state school aid act (MCL 388.1694) makes $1.2 million dollars available to low-income students and their families. The law encourages students to take IB and AP courses, and participate in the exams associated with these courses. These exams can translate into college credit, subsequently reducing college tuition costs.
