NexSys - Next Generation Grant, Application and Cash Management
Welcome to NexSys, the Michigan Department of Education's (MDE) electronic grant, application and cash management system!
NexSys is a web-based system providing a paperless process for submitting grant applications and completing accounting processes for federal grant applications.
NexSys Features Include:
- One system for State and Federal grant management, and federal grant payments
- Customizable user dashboard for ease in monitoring application activities
- Announcements panel for keeping current on important system notices
Accessing NexSys
To begin, you need a:
- MiLogin for Business account profile
- Michigan Education Information System (MEIS) account profile

NexSys Security Access Form
A NexSys Security Access form is required for the below listed user types only. The form should be completed in its entirety and submitted to the email listed on the form to gain access. Note: All lower entity security levels are assigned and maintained by the Authorized Official or Accounting Entity Certifier, see Technical Assistance section for a guide.
Authorized Official:
- Entity users responsible for initiating applications, submitting applications and maintaining list of users for the entity
- An Authorized Official is an individual that can legally sign a binding agreement between the entity/organization and the State of Michigan
- Each entity is allowed two authorized officials
Accounting Entity Certifier:
- Access is required for completing cash draws and submitting Federal Final Expenditure Reports (FERs)
- Each entity may have more than two Accounting Entity Certifiers
