Core Competencies Training for New Directors - School Year 2022 - 2023
The staff of the Michigan Department of Education's School Nutrition Programs unit is pleased to announce a series of on-line training for food service directors/personnel who have been in their position for 2 years or less. This comprehensive training is for School Food Authorities (SFAs) and Residential Child Care Institutions (RCCIs) and will cover items that the staff must know to provide quality meals that adhere to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines.
Watch pre-recorded sessions from MDE. A list will be emailed after registration is complete and should be completed by deadlines provided.
Attend 3, on-line interactive sessions with MDE staff to discuss information presented in pre-recorded sessions. Plan to attend all on-line sessions as different information will be presented in each session. A computer is required and call-ins will not be allowed.
Session 1: - Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at 2:00 - 3:30 pm - Topics: Meal patterns, Offer vs. Serve, Production Records, Food Safety, and Special Dietary Needs.
Session 2: - Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 1:00 - 2:30 pm - Topics: Financial Compliance, Year End Report, Procurement and USDA Foods.
Session 3: - Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at 2:00 - 3:00 pm - Topics: Civil Rights, Applications and Student Eligibility, Household Information Report and Count Sheets.
September 2022 through May 2023 there will be monthly meetings on the third Tuesday at 2 pm to cover additional topics related to School Meal Programs. More information will be emailed after registration is complete:. Topics and dates subject to change:
