Resources for CTE Students

Every student deserves the chance to thrive. Help is available in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, so students can overcome challenges and reach their goals. Ask a teacher, counselor, or other staff person at school or the career center to learn more.

Below are some common needs and examples of how the CTE programs can help students:

Students with Disabilities

  • Approved support for learning and physical needs.
  • Extra help during testing.
  • Staff to assist with school learning and program changes.

Help with Program Costs

Non-Traditional Students (Gender-Based)

  • Support groups with other students.
  • Meet with and learn from professionals in your field.
  • Activities and events at colleges or training programs.

Single Parents (including Expecting Mothers)

  • Help find childcare.
  • Additional support may be available—please ask your school for details.

Migrant Students

  • Help with school enrollment and gathering documents.
  • Information in your language about student rights, services, and CTE opportunities.

English Learners

  • Bilingual testing options.
  • Translation helping tools.
  • Important documents in your language (health and safety information).

Students without a Permanent Address

  • Help from a school staff person (McKinney-Vento Coordinator).
  • Help with community and school resources.
  • Food and hygiene kits at your school or career center.

Students in Foster Care

  • Supports vary—please contact your school for personalized assistance.

Students with Parents in the Military

  • Education support through Military OneSource.
  • Support groups for military-connected students.
  • Flexible scheduling for parent–teacher conferences.

Other Support

  • Help with learning skills for school success, teamwork, job search, and interviewing.
