Intoxilyzer 9000 Operator Guide For Law Enforcement
Other Terms and Definitions
ADC
Verifies the performance of the analog to digital converter.
Air Blank
Analysis of room air for the presence of ethanol or interfering compounds. Normally has a concentration of 0.000 g/210L.
Analytical Checksum
Confirms the firmware has not been altered or changed since creation.
Analytical Status
Verifies the performance of the infrared (IR) control module (IR source and detector).
Breath Volume
The amount of breath provided as part of a subject sample, in liters.
Data Entry
Biographical information pertaining to the subject and operator.
Diagnostic Check
Process where the instrument conducts a series of self-checks. These include Analytical Checksum, Voltage/Current, Memory, Real Time Clock, Temp Regulation, ADC, Analytical Status, and Version Status. When passed, 'OK' appears on the diagnostic printout. (Used interchangeably with Operation System Check).
Disabled – Dry Gas Low
Indicates the pressure of the dry gas cylinder is too low and a test cannot be conducted until a fresh cylinder is installed, and the standard change test is completed.
Dry Gas Cal Check
Analysis of sample (dry gas) with a known ethanol concentration.
Duration
Length of time subject blew into the instrument, in seconds.
Incomplete Test
A test that does not go to completion, typically due to an exception code. There may be analytical results reported on an incomplete test, however, it is important to understand that the test is incomplete and may affect the interpretation of any reported result(s).
Memory
Validates the instrument's RAM (random access memory) and NAND flash (file storage) memory.
Number of attempts
Number of attempts to provide the sample. (i.e., how many starts/stops).
Operation System Check
Used interchangeably with Diagnostic Check. See Diagnostic Check.
Real Time Clock
Validates current time and date circuitry (date and time can still be set incorrectly, but a valid date and time is required for test to continue.
Reference
See dry gas calibration check.
Subject Sample
Subject’s breath sample results.
Temp Regulation
Verifies breath tubes and internal cell temperatures are within the allowable range, and the temperature is stable.
Version Status
Verifies the compatibility of the software/firmware.
Voltage/Current
Confirms the voltages/currents for power supply, pump, USB, Dry gas regulator, are all within normal limits.
Wait
Programmed time delay during a subject test that ensures the samples are separated by at least 2 minutes during the testing sequence.
