PBT Calibration Manual

Additional PBT Calibration Requirements

Every FC10 must have a breath test completed monthly. Before starting the calibration, attach a mouthpiece and perform an Auto Test by blowing into the instrument.

Not using a PBT will shorten the lifespan of the instrument. The more use the instrument receives, the longer it tends to last.

The FC10 has an expected life span of 7-8 years. To determine the age of a unit, look at the serial number. The first two digits are the manufacture year. The next two digits are the calendar week the unit was manufactured in. The subsequent digits are the production number. Example, the FC10 with serial number 16160193 was manufactured in 2016, 16th week (mid-April).

If a unit has a recurring problem, remove it from service and contact Lifeloc Technologies at 1-800-722-4872.

PBT calibration may only be performed by Class II Operators, or higher.

Each PBT shall be calibrated at least once a month, or more as a department may require.

Each new PBT must be calibrated prior to being placed into service, and again after any maintenance and/or repair.

PBT Instrument and Calibration Log (TD-053)

  • Each PBT shall have a separate log.
  • Begin a new log sheet each calendar year.
  • Make an entry on the log for each inspection and/or calibration performed.
  • If a PBT requires calibration four times in a calendar year, then the PBT must be removed from service and sent to Lifeloc for repair or replacement.
