The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s (EGLE) Water Well Viewer (WWV), is an interactive mapping system that displays water wells along with other information, such as wellhead protection areas, underground storage tanks, and sites of environmental contamination. Water well locations have been identified by address matching, the use of global positioning systems (GPS), and by legal descriptions.
This system allows water well drilling and pump installation contractors to submit water well records.

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, through the Materials Management Division, manages the registration and permitting for hazardous waste and liquid industrial by-products (formerly liquid industrial waste) transportation in the State of Michigan.
Although local government employees when using transport vehicles owned and operated by the county or municipality are exempted from having to obtain a permit and registration for transporting hazardous waste or liquid industrial by-products from EGLE, the transporters hired to assist with these activities are required to have the requisite permit and registration.

Government entities that haul someone else’s waste, like sewer system wastewaters from a system they do not own, would need a permit and registration. Not too, there are additional rigorous requirements in place for transport of these materials over public roadways. Both Hazardous waste transporters and Liquid industrial by-product transporters are required to promptly report any spills or discharges to EGLE and local authorities, to ensure safe and compliant hazardous waste transportation.

Please note: on December 17, 2015, Part 121, Liquid Industrial Waste, of the Michigan Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, Act 451 of 1994 as amended was amended by Act 224, establishing "Liquid Industrial By-Products." Other statutory changes were made under Acts 225, and 226 of 2015 to provide for conforming laws.
