The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, Air Quality Division is stopping the public comment period because Aevitas Specialty Services Corp withdrew their permit application.

What happens now?

  • The public comment period, which started on July 13th has been closed due to the withdrawal request.
  • The August 18th public hearing and informational session at Wayne County Community College in Detroit has been canceled.
  • The application package and supporting documents will remain available in MiEnviro Portal.

Will the public meeting and hearing be rescheduled?

With the withdrawal of the application, all work on moving through the public comment process has stopped. In order for an additional public comment period to be held, Aevitas would need to submit a new permit application. A new application requires a thorough review and evaluation prior to being opened for public comment.
