Michigan's Home Energy Efficiency and Rebate Programs
This second session in the Energy Affordability mini-series features speakers from the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) and EGLE and focuses on how Michigan is coordinating energy efficiency and rebate programs to reduce energy burdens for income constrained households.
Brad Banks and Elizabeth Yeager will present the work of the MPSC’s Energy Waste Reduction Low Income Workgroup, which brings together state agencies, utilities, and community partners to identify barriers, align program offerings, and improve delivery of energy efficiency measures for low-income residents.
Joy Wang and Monique Jenkins will introduce EGLE’s Michigan Home Energy Rebates programs, which provide rebates for whole home efficiency upgrades and home electrification for eligible Michigan households. They will explain how the rebate pathways function, who qualifies, how contractors and residents can participate, and how these new rebates complement existing utility Energy Waste Reduction (EWR) programs.
