Moving from MiWAM to MiUI
-
As a Third-Party Administrator (TPA), will I automatically have access to all the clients that I currently have in MIWAM when MiUI launches?
As part of the transition to MiUI, UIA will attempt to convert all Employer–TPA relationships that currently exist in MiWAM into MiUI, including WOTC TPAs. The exception is when an employer has two or more TPAs assigned in MiWAM. In this case, the employer will not be added to the TPA’s record and must grant permission to that TPA in MiUI. The employer will need the TPA’s new MiUI TPA ID to complete this action. TPAs with the proper authorization can also associate themselves with an employer outside of the Automatic Assignment process.
Although Employer–TPA relationships are being brought over from MiWAM, the specific roles previously assigned to TPAs are not. Details on which TPAs will receive which roles can be found in the TPA Assignment & Association Quick Reference Guide on MiUI University.
-
How will the two phases affect employers and Third-Party Administrator (TPA)s?For a few months after the Tax Phase of MiUI goes live, employers and TPAs will be performing unemployment insurance duties in two systems. Tax functions will be completed in MiUI, while benefits functions will still be completed in MiWAM. It is essential all employers and TPAs have a MiWAM account. Both systems will be used to deliver alerts and updates throughout this interim period, providing clear communication about roles and responsibilities.
-
If I am both an employer and TPA in MiWAM, will I have multiple Activation Codes?
Yes. If you are an employer who is also a TPA in MiWAM, or a TPA who is also an employer, you will have two Activation Codes.
If you are both an employer and a TPA, you will need to log in using your Master access security to see both activation codes on your homepage.
-
What do I do if I do not see my employer or TPA MiUI Activation Code in MiWAM?
You will only see the MiUI Activation Code tab in MiWAM if you have the Master access security role. If you have the Limited access security role, you will not see the MiUI Activation Code tab and will need to have the Master access security role user initiate the existing Employer or TPA account.
Contact the Office of Employer Ombudsman at 1-855-484-2636, Option 4 for assistance.

What is the difference between the MiUI Activation Code found in MiWAM used for account initiation and the Activation Code for new users?
The MiUI Activation Code found in MiWAM is used to initiate your MiUI account. It is used for existing accounts that have been transitioned from MiWAM to MiUI. The code is located in the MiUI Activation Code tab of your MiWAM account.
The Activation Code for new users is required when users are added to MiUI and assigned within an employer or TPA account. New users will receive an email with an Activation Code and steps to follow to activate their account.
New users will require:
- Their own MiLogin for Business account
- The same credentials including:
- Employer Account Number (EAN)
- FEIN
- SSN (TPAs only)
