LANSING – To celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week and Month, over 100,000 Michigan educators statewide are receiving a letter today from Interim State Superintendent Sheila Alles, thanking them for their excellent and dedicated work.
In her digital letter, available at bit.ly/TeacherAppreciationLetter, Alles states that the Michigan Department of Education and State Board of Education express “our deepest gratitude for your outstanding contributions to your students, district, and profession.”
She adds, “Teaching is an extremely challenging occupation that requires you to raise the bar academically, while meeting the needs of the whole child.
“Each of you rise to this task every day, demonstrating a clear devotion to deliver innovative, engaging, high-quality instruction while providing a consistent, positive, trustworthy presence in your students’ lives.”
May is Teacher Appreciation Month, and today through Friday – Teacher Appreciation Week.
Recognizing Michigan’s educators is an important piece of MDE’s Top 10 in 10 strategic plan, which includes strategies aimed to develop, support, and sustain a high-quality, prepared, and collaborative education workforce.
In addition to the letter, MDE encourages students, parents, and community members to participate in a “shout-out” for posting to the MDE Office of Educator Excellence’s (@MIeducator) Facebook, Twitter (#MIteachAppreesh), and Instagram pages.
