Public Act 256 requires an annual report regarding the language and literacy development of children who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) and age 5 or younger as compared to their peers, beginning on July 1, 2026, and by July 1 of each year thereafter. Annual reports are linked below.
This year was defined by extensive research, planning, preparation, and early implementation efforts. The work of the LEAD-K advisory committee, in collaboration with invested partners, has resulted in the development of a dynamic parent resource and collection of recommended assessments.
