September 25, 2024
LANSING – State Superintendent Dr. Michael F. Rice is issuing the following statement on the Michigan House and Senate voting today to amend the Public School Employees Retirement Act of 1979 to reduce the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System (MPSERS) rate and eliminate the health care cost for public school employees.
“The vote is good for Michigan’s students, our dedicated public school employees, and our schools,” Dr. Rice said. “As long-time educators know, the rate has been too high for too long. We appreciate our legislators providing this relief.”
