Michigan Department of Education Issues Statement on Belated Release of Federal Education Funds
July 25, 2025
LANSING – The Michigan Department of Education is issuing the following statement from State Superintendent Dr. Michael F. Rice on the U.S. Department of Education notifying states today that Title funds that were previously being withheld will now be released to schools:
“We have received notification this afternoon from the U.S. Department of Education that Title dollars previously withheld by the Trump Administration will be released beginning the week of July 28. If this indeed proves true, it will be welcome news for students and schools. It prompts the question: why was it necessary for half the states in the country to file a lawsuit to get a Congressionally approved appropriation released by the administration?”
The administration previously announced on Monday, July 21, that it awarded funds for Title IV-B that had been withheld. Today’s announcement is related to the remainder of Title funds for fiscal year 2025.Author:
