Grow Your Own Educator

How Do We Grow Michigan's Next Generation of Educators?

Michigan's Grow Your Own Educator Program helps strengthen the state's educator workforce by creating pathways for individuals to enter the teaching profession. Through the Future Proud Michigan Educator Initiative, grant funds are provided to Educational Service Districts (ESDs), Intermediate School Districts (ISDs), and local school districts to support efforts to recruit, prepare, and retain qualified educators. By developing future teachers within Michigan's own schools and communities, the program helps address educator shortages and build a sustainable workforce that supports student success.

    Van Buren Intermediate School District

"Becoming a teacher was something I really wanted to do, but it would have taken me 10 years to finish a program on my own. I don't know how this would have been possible without all the support I received."
