What course are you trying to staff?

Tier 1: What is the context (structure, funding)? What is the curriculum (student standards)? What credit is awarded to students (MMC)?

In order to do this, a team of district staff may need to meet to discuss. This team could include the curriculum director, the teacher that may be assigned to the course, the department chair, principal, school counselor, the program director, the individual responsible for student and staff reporting.

Once you have answered these questions, use the SCED codes/REP cross walk to find the appropriate course title and description.

Note the SCED Course Code and the REP Assignment Code(s) listed.

Self-Contained

When one teacher is assigned to teach the same group of students for a majority of the instructional day, the assignment is considered self-contained. These assignments are typically found in elementary school settings. In some Michigan schools these assignments may also be found in middle school settings.

Self-Contained Classroom Placement

Single Subject

Subject-specific endorsements are intended for assignments in departmentalized settings, where students are receiving instruction by an individual prepared and endorsed in that content. These assignments are often found in high school settings, but can be found at all grade levels.
