2026 Special Populations Conference
2026 Special Populations Conference Registration is LIVE!
The 2026 Special Populations Conference theme is “Empower. Engage. Elevate.”, with an impetus to unite educators from across Michigan to champion the success of special population students through collaboration, innovation, and student-centered practices.
The Conference is in-person only, and will be held at the Kellogg Conference Center (219 S. Harrison Road, East Lansing, Michigan) on October 13-14, 2026, with pre-Conference sessions on October 12, 2026. Lodging is available at $98/night under the group rate. Day 1 keynote speaker Elise White Diaz will share insights on supporting multilingual learners through asset-based and equitable educational practices. Day 2 keynote speaker Gaelin Elmore will explore themes of belonging, resilience, and relationship-building to help educators create environments where all students can succeed.
In addition, on Monday, October 12, two pre-Conference sessions will be held:
- English Learner (EL) Program “Discover, Connect, Respond” with Elise White Diaz
- McKinney-Vento (MV) Homeless Education (speaker will be announced later)
The pre-Conference sessions will be offered in addition to the Conference and require a separate registration ticket. Due to the content and activities, both pre-Conference and main Conference sessions will be offered in-person only.
