Transportation

Districts should complete the 2023-2024 SE-4159 Bus Logs during the pupil transportation count week (October 2-6, 2023) similar to previous years. The updated SE-4159-SL and SE-4159-RL are available below with instructions regarding how to appropriately count ridership and fill out the form.

Similar to the 2021-2022 school year, the MDE OSE understands districts may be delivering curriculum virtually or in a blended format, and this will affect ridership counts. However, the data collected must reflect actual ridership numbers and will not have a direct impact on special education reimbursement allowances. The MDE OSE will revert back to the school district's last pre-pandemic special education and regular education ridership percentages (2020-2021) when reviewing any prorated special education reimbursement allowances.

Districts utilizing buses for purposes of delivering meals or curriculum-related material should include the mileage and gas used for that purpose during the count week but should not count these students in the ridership count.
