2026 Cheboygan Dam

The State Emergency Operations Center was activated on Friday, April 10, 2026 along with Governor Gretchen Whitmer declaring a state of emergency due to rising water levels at the Cheboygan Lock and Dam Complex.

2026 Statewide Flooding

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer extended the activation of the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) statewide at noon on April 14, 2026 as water levels continue to rise, threatening dams and severe flooding across the state.

2026 Southwest Michigan Tornadoes

On March 6, 2026, severe weather struck the counties of Branch, Cass, and St. Joseph, producing severe storms and four confirmed tornadoes.

Starting on March 15, 2026, a severe winter storm system hit multiple counties in the Upper Peninsula and the Northern Lower Peninsula, producing heavy snowfall, high winds, and icing.

2025 Northern Michigan Ice Storm

Beginning on March 28, 2025, and, in some areas, lasting through March 30, 2025, northern Michigan experienced impactful winter weather that resulted in extreme and severe ice accumulation that had significant impacts to critical services throughout the region.
