Health Services
MCTI provides students with health services support to help ensure their well-being during training.
Available services
The Health Services Department at MCTI offers a wide range of services. These include physician and nursing services, occupational therapy and psychological counseling. Staff can also assist with connecting students to local resources for other health or mental health-related concerns.
Nursing Services
Nursing Services provides assistance to students in the areas of disability management, health teaching, minor acute illness care, and liaison with home area treating medical specialists.
Psychosocial Services
Psychosocial Services include crisis intervention, counseling, guidance, support, and disability management/education. In addition, efforts are made to coordinate services with a student's Community Mental Health or private provider. Students are also assisted with life skills development.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy services assist students with developing and implementing reasonable accommodations for training and living at MCTI. The Occupational Therapy team also conducts assessments and evaluations with students to help provide more information for informed decision making about trade training and employment.
Other services provided onsite for staff and students include CPR and First Aid Training, Sexual Harassment Prevention programs, and Infection Control Education.
Special health considerations for incoming MCTI students
TB skin testing
TB skin testing for all students and staff has been mandated by the Community Health Department. It is required that entering students have a negative status documentation to protect other students in the school environment. If the skin test is positive, a chest x-ray or alternate test may be ordered. Documentation of a negative test or chest x-ray from the health department or physician will be required for entry.
Medical exams
A general medical exam is also required to provide baseline health information to MCTI nurses and local private health care providers in case of a health emergency.
Health coverage
It is very important for students to have a copy of their health care insurance card and arrangements for local health care if the student has HMO health coverage. If a student does not have health insurance, he or she should be advised of coverage options through the Department of Human Services for Medicaid or MSA voucher system.
Continuing care
Enrolling students should continue with their local mental health and/or medical provider if ongoing care and prescriptions may be needed. MCTI can assist students with private space for virtual appointments as needed.

Alerts and notifications
All students are encouraged to register to receive RAVE Alerts. MCTI uses RAVE Alert, a mass notification system, to send emergency alerts and other important notifications to students and staff. The system is designed to quickly and reliably deliver critical information to a large group of people in various situations such as emergencies, school closures or other important announcements.
At the start of each term, instructors will assist students with registering for RAVE Alerts.

Student vehicles
Students must register their vehicle with the Fire & Safety Office at the start of every term. Students must place the MCTI parking sticker on the driver-side, upper corner of the rear window. If a student changes vehicles during the term, that vehicle must be registered with the Fire & Safety Office.
