Reading Instruction Requirements for Teaching Certificates
Implementation of Public Acts 118 (2006) and 32 (2007)
Effective July 1, 2009, satisfactory completion of a 3-credit course of study with appropriate field experiences in the diagnosis and remediation of reading disabilities and differentiated instruction is required for teachers before they can be recommended for a professional teaching certificate.

Approved Reading Diagnostic Courses
MDE approved courses listed by EPI which fulfill the PA 32 requirement.

Reading Diagnostic Course Completed Out-Of-State Only Verification Form
Caution is advised to applicants seeking to fulfill this requirement through out-of-state institutions as many courses do not meet the requirements under Michigan law, or the out-of-state institution may not be able to complete the verification form assuring compliance.
