Homegrown Educator Finds Success as Region 4 Teacher of the Year in Latest #proudMIeducator Video

September 24, 2019

LANSING – Fulton Schools is growing its own legacy of excellent educators.

The latest video in the Proud Michigan Educator series highlights Fulton Schools science teacher Jeremy Winsor, the 2019-2010 Region 4 Teacher of the Year.

As a graduate of Fulton Schools, Winsor benefitted from the dedication of his teachers when he was a student, which led him to become a Proud Michigan Educator himself.

A science teacher at Fulton Junior/Senior High, Winsor is working side by side with those educators who inspired him, and is now inspiring them – including his teacher-turned-colleague, Jim Goodspeed, last year’s Region 4 Teacher of the Year.

“It really speaks to the caliber of a school’s educators when a graduate wants to join his or her teachers in a profession that has such a profound impact on children,” said State Superintendent Dr. Michael F. Rice. “Students see and hear the story and can be inspired to become the next generation of homegrown Proud Michigan Educators.”

The #proudMIeducator initiative is part of a greater effort by the Michigan Department of Education to recognize and celebrate the state’s education workforce. Anyone can participate in the social media-driven campaign designed to shine a spotlight on those making a difference for students in schools and districts across the state – simply tag posts using the #proudMIeducator hashtag.
