Bestselling Author Angeline Boulley Headlines Library of Michigan Night for Notables
January 15, 2026
LANSING – The Library of Michigan and the Library of Michigan Foundation are welcoming bestselling author Angeline Boulley as the featured keynote speaker for the 2026 Night for Notables celebration on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Boulley, an enrolled member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, is the award-winning author of “Firekeeper’s Daughter” and “Warrior Girl Unearthed,” both widely acclaimed for their compelling storytelling, vivid sense of place, and powerful exploration of Anishinaabe culture.
Her debut novel earned the Printz Medal, Morris Award, and numerous national honors, establishing her as one of the most influential contemporary voices in young adult literature. “Firekeeper’s Daughter” and “Warrior Girl Unearthed” were also honored as Michigan Notable Books selections in 2022 and 2024, respectively. Angeline’s newest novel, “Sisters in the Wind,” was released in September.
Night for Notables, hosted annually by the Library of Michigan and the Library of Michigan Foundation, honors 20 titles selected to be on the Michigan Notable Books list. The upcoming Night for Notables event will celebrate the 2026 Michigan Notable Books with Boulley’s keynote address and opportunities for attendees to meet the honored authors.
The Library of Michigan earlier this month announced the 20 Michigan Notable Books for 2026.
“The Library of Michigan Foundation is proud to support the Library of Michigan and the Michigan Notable Books program,” said Sarah Shaw, executive director of the foundation. “We look forward to an amazing event that will be elevated through Angeline’s participation.”
State Superintendent Dr. Glenn Maleyko expressed excitement about the upcoming event.
“Literacy is my top priority as state superintendent,” Maleyko said. “Showcasing outstanding books by Michigan authors helps promote the importance of reading.”
