Finding Professional Learning Opportunities in the SCECH Catalog

Using the SCECH Catalog to Find Professional Learning Opportunities

Programs and courses offering State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs) can be found in the SCECH Catalog. The catalog link is always available in MOECS on the gray bar under the blue top banner.

The list can be searched and sorted by:

  • Program Keyword  (Search for a specific term within the available programs)
  • From Date (Lists program in a specific time frame)
  • Select Sponsor  (Allows you the ability to choose a specific sponsor in your area if you wish)
  • SCECHs (number of SCECHs available upon completion of the program)
  • Participant Fee (cost of program for educators)
  • Select County (can choose the county you prefer to attend a program)
  • Select Category (select the specific content area)
  • Select Program Format (Blended/Hybrid, Face-to-Face, or Virtual/Online)
NOTE: Less information entered into the fields will result in more programs being listed.

Select “Search” at the bottom of the search criteria, and MOECS will list the programs that match your information. Select the Program Name to find out more information about the program and registration information.

There are three recognized categories for Professional Learning for certificate renewal:
  1. Satisfactory college semester credit hours (average grade of C or better) at a college or university recognized by Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or U.S. Department of Education (USDE), with one semester credit hour being equivalent to 25 education-related professional learning hours.
  2. State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs)
  3. Annual District Provided Professional Development (DPPD) hours. These are only available through your school district and are offered as SCECH.
