Education Experiences

Education Experiences Unit

The Education Experiences Unit enhances the Michigan Department of Education’s (MDE's) Students First vision by partnering with educators, districts, Intermediate School Districts (ISDs), and communities to ensure every Michigan student has access to equitable, meaningful learning that fosters creativity, critical thinking, curiosity, joy, and preparation for future goals.

We collaborate with partners across Michigan to strengthen and reimagine the systems that shape student learning by advising, consulting, and supporting schools in implementing student-centered solutions. We develop and provide guidance that supports innovation, creativity, flexibility, and implementation with integrity in areas such as high-quality instructional materials, professional learning, flexible course pathways, and competency-based education systems. Our work also supports engaging and effective Tier 1 instruction, integrated and authentic learning across content areas, flexible use of funding and policy, and inclusive, culturally responsive settings where all students belong and thrive.
