Dr. Jennifer Calogero

Animal Industry Division Director

Jennifer Calogero, DVM, PhD, is the Animal Industry Division (AID) Division Director in the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Bureau of Food Safety and Animal Health. Dr. Calogero and the staff of AID work daily to achieve their mission of protecting, regulating, and promoting animal health throughout the state.

Dr. Calogero joined MDARD in 2019 as the Cervid and Small Ruminant Program Manager and served as an Assistant State Veterinarian from 2021 to 2023. Before working at MDARD, Dr. Calogero worked for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the National Park Service.

Dr. Calogero holds advanced degrees as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and a Doctor of Philosophy in Comparative Medicine and Integrative Biology from Michigan State University. She also has a bachelor of science degree in Animal Science from Michigan State University.
