Freedom of Information Act Process for Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development
Michigan’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), MCL 15.231 et seq, provides that certain persons can receive copies or make inspections of most public records of public bodies upon written request. The person must sufficiently describe the records he or she seeks. The public body may charge a fee to cover the cost of complying with a person’s FOIA request.

Food Inspection Reports
You can search for food inspection reports made available at https://www2.mda.state.mi.us/MiSafe/Default without making a FOIA request. On this site you will have access to search, view and download most food establishment reports inspected by MDARD. Inspection reports will be available from April 2022 forward. For any other information that may not be listed here, please submit a formal FOIA request.
