Senior Executive Management Assistant to the Director
Cheri Ayers serves as the Senior Executive Management Assistant to the Director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD), where she performs executive support activities including the coordination and organization of internal and external meetings, domestic and international travel arrangements, public speaking engagements, briefing material, and document review and preparation. She serves as the liaison between MDARD and the Governor’s Office regarding scheduling requests, appointments, constituent relations, and federal agricultural issues; and is a member of the Executive Team and department leadership staff.
Cheri has been with the department for over 20 years; and in 2005, was honored as one of MDARD’s “Best of the Best” employees. Before joining MDARD, she was administrative assistant to the CEO of Del E. Webb Memorial Hospital in Sun City, Arizona. Prior to that, she served in that same capacity for various General Motors Executive Vice Presidents in Lansing, Michigan.
She graduated from Davenport University and Lansing Community College. She and her husband live in the Charlotte area.
