VIDEO RELEASE: MDARD Encourages Michiganders to Participate in Small Business Saturday
November 26, 2023
MASON, MI - Today, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) Director Tim Boring celebrated Small Business Saturday by visiting Kean's Store Company in Mason. Small Business Saturday is a day to celebrate and support small businesses across Michigan and the nation. Small Business Saturday has become an important part of small businesses busiest shopping season.
Boring has crisscrossed the state this year visiting a variety of small businesses and local farmers from Grand Rapids to the Upper Peninsula.
"Michigan's small businesses make our local communities unique. From a local candy shop to a nursery selling poinsettias, small businesses make the holiday season special while helping Michigan's economy to thrive," said Director Boring. "Most of us are never more than a short walk or drive from a local small business. When Michiganders shop local, they're supporting businesses and all they do for our communities."
Kean's Store Company is an old-fashioned variety store located in the heart of downtown Mason. Spanning a whole block, this mid-Michigan destination store has been serving the community since 1928. For over 90 years, Kean's has provided their customers with a unique experience, nostalgic feelings and trendy new gifts.
