Steps to Becoming a Certified Fieldperson in accordance with the Grade "A" Milk Law of 2001
A Certified Fieldperson is an (industry) employee who is trained and certified to conduct official Grade "A" dairy farm inspections in the same manner a Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) inspector would inspect a dairy farm.
Steps to becoming a Certified Fieldperson:
- Complete application ($150 application fee--license is good for 3 years and is prorated in 6 month increments).
- Contact the Lansing Office at 800-292-3939 to arrange dairy farm inspections with a dairy inspector.
- Applicant must inspect 25 farms with the MDARD inspector, correctly matching 80% or better of the inspector's debit items. NOTE: For renewal of a Certified Fieldperson license you must complete 10 farm inspections.
