The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s (EGLE) Water Well Viewer (WWV), is an interactive mapping system that displays water wells along with other information, such as wellhead protection areas, underground storage tanks, and sites of environmental contamination. Water well locations have been identified by address matching, the use of global positioning systems (GPS), and by legal descriptions.
This system allows water well drilling and pump installation contractors to submit water well records.

New Materials Management Plans are in the approval and development process. The new law establishes statewide recycling goals and standards, and the Materials Management Plans will identify an implementation strategy to meet those goals.
Current Solid Waste Management Plans will remain in effect until a new Materials Management Plan is approved.
Materials management planning is a program designed to guide the management of counties’ materials, with an emphasis on increasing sustainable practices, such as recycling and composting, in addition to ensuring safe disposal options.
These materials can include food waste, yard clippings, recyclables, other source separated materials, and solid waste.
Use the following maps to find materials management facilities in Michigan and contact information for Materials Management Planning activities. Datasets for both maps are available to view as a table or download in a variety of formats (.csv, .shp, .kml, .GeoJSON, etc.).
