Troubleshooting

While using EGLE’s web maps, you may occasionally encounter issues like slow loading, search errors, or malfunctioning tools. Here are a few common problems and tips for resolving them:

Slow or incomplete map loading

  1. Ensure that you have a stable internet connection. Slow internet can cause maps to load slowly or display partial information.
  2. Try refreshing the page to reload the web map.
  3. If using a mobile device, switch from Wi-Fi to cellular data (or vice versa) to check if the issue is related to your connection.
  4. If it is not related to your connection, please be patient. Good things take time! Our maps may take a moment to load as we are displaying a lot of environmental information and it may take some time to display.

Search errors (no results or inaccurate locations)

  1. Double-check your search term for typos or incomplete information.
  2. Ensure the correct search tool is selected (e.g., “Search by Attribute” vs. “Search by Location”).
  3. Zoom out on the map to a broader area to help with location searches that may be too specific.

Tool malfunction or missing data

  1. Confirm that all necessary layers are turned on. Some tools depend on specific layers being active.
  2. Clear your browser’s cache or try accessing the web map in a different browser to rule out local browser issues.
  3. If using location-based tools, make sure your device’s location services are enabled and that you’ve granted permission for the web map to access your location.

If these steps don’t resolve your issue, feel free to reach out to our support team at EGLE-Maps@Michigan.gov for additional assistance. Be sure to include details about the issue, the web browser or device you are using, and any error messages you’ve encountered to help us better diagnose the problem.
