The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s (EGLE) Water Well Viewer (WWV), is an interactive mapping system that displays water wells along with other information, such as wellhead protection areas, underground storage tanks, and sites of environmental contamination. Water well locations have been identified by address matching, the use of global positioning systems (GPS), and by legal descriptions.
This system allows water well drilling and pump installation contractors to submit water well records.
EGLE's interactive calendar is designed to provide timely information on decisions before the Director, proposed settlements of contested cases, administrative rules promulgation, public hearings, meetings and comment deadlines, and environmental conferences, workshops and training programs.

The Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has received a Federal Consistency Determination under Section 307 of the Federal Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Utilities Service (USDA), regarding proposed financial assistance to the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians under the ReConnect Program for a fiber optic cable installation project in the City of Sault Ste. Marie and Soo Township, Chippewa County.
Approximately 17 miles of new fiber optic communications cable will be installed, including twelve miles of cable installed aboveground and attached to existing utility poles owned by Cloverland Electric Cooperative, and five miles of cable installed underground by directional boring within previously disturbed corridors in existing roadside utility rights-of-way. No open trenching techniques will be used. Portions of the project are within Michigan’s coastal zone.
EGLE is reviewing the proposed action for consistency with Michigan’s Coastal Management Program pursuant to Section 307 of the CZMA.

The purpose of the review is to determine whether the proposed activity complies with a range of Michigan’s resource protection statutes and rules.
