The Rural Development Fund Board, housed in the Office of Rural Prosperity, has oversight of the Rural Development Fund. The Board is charged with advising the Office on how to distribute tax revenue collected from mines to improve and strengthen local communities. Director is a voting member and makes final decision on projects (Public Act 411 of 2012).

Deputy Director for Executive Operations
Jason Moon serves as Deputy Director for Executive Operations at the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO), where he oversees the Administrative Services Bureau, Legislative Affairs and Communications. With nearly 20 years of state government experience, Jason brings extensive expertise in strategic communications, executive operations and cross-department collaboration.
Throughout his career, Jason has helped advance key state and departmental initiatives by building strong partnerships across government, leading communications during high-profile and complex issues, and strengthening engagement with employees, the media and external stakeholders. His collaborative leadership and commitment to public service have helped position LEO as a trusted, responsive and innovative department focused on expanding opportunity for all Michiganders.
