MiSTEM convenes a statewide network of leaders in education, business and local communities to empower the next generation of innovators.
The Rural Development Fund Board, housed in the Office of Rural Prosperity, has oversight of the Rural Development Fund. The Board is charged with advising the Office on how to distribute tax revenue collected from mines to improve and strengthen local communities. Director is a voting member and makes final decision on projects (Public Act 411 of 2012).

Family Mobility Corps
The Communities First, Inc AmeriCorps Program (official name: Family Mobility Corps) will have 18 AmeriCorps members who will address the issue of financial insecurity for low-to-moderate income families by enhancing financial literacy and improving economic well-being in Flint (Genesee County), Detroit (Wayne County), and Saginaw (Shiawassee County), Michigan. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for improving financial knowledge among 200 program participants. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 200 volunteers whose activities will support economic well-being for all participants.
