2019 Regional Russ Mawby Signature Service Projects
Each year, the Regional Russ Mawby Signature Service Projects bring hundreds of AmeriCorps members to various Michigan communities for a day of intensive service. By the end of the day, several projects are completed, visibly demonstrating the power of Michigan's AmeriCorps members in action. The 2019 projects took place on May 17 or 18 in the following locations:
- Mid-MI (Lansing) - May 17
- West MI (Muskegon) - May 17
- Northern MI / U.P. (Gaylord) - May 17
- Flint/Tri-Cities (Flint) - May 17
- SE MI (Detroit) - May 18
The service projects looked different for each region, but they all highlighted the importance of AmeriCorps and national service. To view the 2019 Regional Russ Mawby Signature Service recap, click here.

In Memoriam of Russ Mawby:
Dr. Russell –“Russ”– Mawby was a tremendous advocate for youth and volunteer service. He spent the majority of his career leading the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in Battle Creek. Dr. Mawby was chair emeritus and trustee of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. During his 36-year tenure, he served as a program officer, vice president, CEO, and chair of the Foundation. While serving as CEO and chair, Dr. Mawby was instrumental in convening a series of meetings leading to the formation of the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC). Dr. Mawby was appointed to the MCSC on September 13, 2000, where he served as chair until 2003. Dr. Mawby passed away on October 20, 2017, leaving a legacy as a philanthropic leader and devoted community service advocate. To honor Dr. Mawby’s commitment to volunteerism, service, and AmeriCorps, it was only fitting that the service project be renamed the Michigan’s AmeriCorps Russ Mawby Signature Service Project.
