ALPENA ALCONA AREA CREDIT UNION embodies the philosophy of “people helping people.” It actively supports local organizations through community reinvestment, charitable contributions, and financial education. Throughout the years, AAACU has donated to various community organizations, helping to build communities that are interpersonally and financially resilient. Some beneficiaries include United Way of Northeast Michigan, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, Relay for Life and American Red Cross. Through its commitment to service and education, AAACU is making northern Michigan stronger and more vibrant. AAACU has also provided financial education for area students with the Teen Financial Reality Fair. “Reaching students with events such as these will assist our community in better preparing the next generation for facing future financial challenges,” wrote AAACU board volunteer Brian Shumaker.
