Corporate Community Leader - Comcast
Corporate Community Leader Award: honors corporations and businesses that excel in community involvement and demonstrate excellent corporate citizenship by giving back to their community in a variety of ways.
COMCAST has been committed to employee community engagement for over 50 years. Comcast employees are encouraged to volunteer and support their community nationwide. Volunteers in Michigan have donated thousands of hours of service to the Boys and Girls Club, City Year Detroit, and numerous other causes. In 2016, Comcast distributed 277,120 bottles of water in Flint, as well as 783 water testing kits, 3,565 water filters and provided almost $80,000 in donations. Comcast Cares Day, an annual day of giving, celebrates the company’s year-round commitment to service and has grown to become the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer event. In 2016, 3,539 volunteers served almost 18,000 hours at 49 sites in Michigan. “Supporting employee volunteerism that makes change happen in the community is a core value at Comcast,” said Tim Collins, regional senior vice president for Comcast’s Heartland Region, which includes Michigan.
