Corporate Community Leader - Dort Federal Credit Union
Dort Federal Credit Union has been striving to make a lasting and continuous impact in its community. As a community pillar in Genesee, Lapeer, Shiawassee and Livingston counties, the organization has not only donated toward relevant causes in the communities, but has also put forth time and effort by participating in events and rising to various challenges that impact the people of these communities. In 2017 alone, Dort Federal Credit Union donated to, volunteered at, and/or participated in nearly 100 events and charities in the community. This has led to countless hours of volunteer work by employees, 45 pints of blood donated to Michigan Blood during two drives, and over $19,000 for charities raised personally by employees. The credit union donates to and participates in a wide range of activities that are an essential part of the community. Dort Federal makes a priority each year to support a variety of causes, including at least four charity walks, multiple charity promotional nights at Flint Firebirds games, the Hurley Cares for Kids Radiothon, as well as donating toys and money to local animal shelters. In addition, the credit union supports youth education and athletics through donations to area schools, supporting local children’s baseball teams, working with Boy Scouts of America, and giving away several scholarships to local students to further their education. “Dort Federal Credit Union is committed to all levels of volunteerism and service,” said Mindy Prusa, CEO of Whaley Children’s Center. “They have personally made an impact in our community.”
