ACCOUNTING AID SOCIETY in Detroit exists to create a growing economy that works for all community members in southeast Michigan. The organization assists clients with tax returns, personal finances and small business financial services. Accounting Aid’s work addresses a critical need for those in Detroit and southeast Michigan, providing access to knowledgeable and experienced tax preparers and financial coaches at no cost, and saves families with low incomes hundreds of dollars each year. Annually, Accounting Aid’s staff and more than 600 volunteers deliver an economic impact of over $25 million to southeast Michigan, helping 24,000 community members who need it most. Since its founding in 1972, Accounting Aid has delivered over $375 million in economic impact to southeast Michigan residents. “The coach was phenomenal,” said Accounting Aid client Earnest Williams. “I now have a budget that I can work with and also have set up financial goals for the future.”
