The Rural Development Fund Board, housed in the Office of Rural Prosperity, has oversight of the Rural Development Fund. The Board is charged with advising the Office on how to distribute tax revenue collected from mines to improve and strengthen local communities. Director is a voting member and makes final decision on projects (Public Act 411 of 2012).

IM KIDS 3RD MEAL provides food insecure children with an evening meal, preventing their school-provided lunch from being their last meal of the day. In Montcalm and Ionia Counties, 1 in 5 children are food insecure. In just two years of operation, IM Kids 3rd Meal has addressed a massive community need by providing over 145,177 third meals to more than 500 elementary students. More than 9,000 volunteers have served over 15,561 hours with the program. “Childhood hunger is something that impacts all of our communities,” said Brian Talbot, one of the organization’s community partners. “We are happy to be able to support IM Kids 3rd Meal in their efforts to provide these children with access to enough nutritious food necessary for a healthy lifestyle.”
