Senior Volunteer of the Year - Patricia Dishaw
Senior Volunteer of the Year Award: honors individuals age 65 and older who have taken action to make their community a better place to live through service.
PATRICIA DISHAW of Crystal Falls has been serving her community of Mansfield for over 50 years and shows no signs of letting up. She has worn numerous hats during her years of service, from mentor to grant writer and her passion for helping others shows in everything she does. She has supported hundreds of children through 4-H leadership, written and received grants for playground equipment in two parks, provided care and comfort to residents in the Iron County Medical Care Facility, organized funeral dinners for community members, and helped raise money for music scholarships and band uniforms. She has also preserved over two decades of Mansfield Township history in the pages of the Mansfield Independent. “The biggest accomplishment that Pat Dishaw has achieved in her over 87,000 hours of community service cannot be measured in dollars or time,” said Kathy Springberg, Patricia’s nominator. “Her biggest accomplishment is the sense of community that all of her activities have helped to foster.”
